Meyer/Frank FYI

1. Harris County Public Library is switching over to the SersiDynix Symphony system and we can no longer check-in HCPL items at our branches.  If you receive HCPL items from a customer, tell them to return their items to an HCPL branch.  If you get these items in the book drop, put a post-it note on them with the date they were received, log the items in your branch's log book, and send them through delivery to Central.

2Items listed as XX(#####) on the paging list or found through the catalog should be ignored.  This is a temporary designation for ILL items.  Holds will not be honored and they should not be paged.

3.  Axis 360 has gone live (however, the link is not yet on our main page).  Please take the training tutorial to familiarize yourself  with this new program (also, the training is--technically--mandatory).

4If you work at Meyer, please be aware of a new system for shelving Non-Fiction and Foreign language DVDs.  Ask someone to show you how it's arranged before shelving these items.

Meyer/Frank FYI

1. Hopefully this will never be necessary, but to call 911 you have to dial 9911 from our office phones (because it's an outside call).

2. When looking up the Cyber Security I training in TMS, you should search for "Cyber Security."  From the list of training modules, select "Cyber Security Awareness - Level I."  Also, don't forget to take the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training, if you have not already done so.

3. Customers who pay their fines through the HPL website are charged a non-refundable $0.50 processing fee.  However, this fee is not charged if they pay at the desk (through our telecheck machine).  As well, the minimum payment for any transaction is $1.00.

Meyer/Frank FYI

1. A new policy for the City of Houston requires HPL staff members to retake the "Cyber Security 1" training and the "Workplace Discrimination and Harassment" training, annually.  For this year, you must complete them by 11/30/15.

2. Currently, there is a problem in Sersi when checking in new items.  To correct this problem, please discharge new materials twice.

3. HPL is adding a new e-book service.  It's called Axis360.  It will not replace any of our existing electronic services.  To help you understand this new service, check your email for a simple demo (the email is titled "Axis 360 Demo Access for Training" and was sent on 11/03/15).
